Rowenna Malone

With a background in history, geography and museology, Rowenna is a heritage consultant and Associate at Purcell in the UK. She researches, analyses and advises on a range of built heritage and is fascinated by the connections between places. Rowenna has a particular interest in South Georgia and the challenges of conserving heritage in remote places that often reflect historical episodes of great courage and ingenuity. She prepared the Heritage Framework and Strategy for South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands, wrote the Conservation Management Plan for the Grytviken Whaling Station on South Georgia and is continuing the categorisation of the island’s heritage assets. Reflecting her love of shared heritage, Rowenna is a founder trustee of the Commonwealth Heritage Forum. She has carried out work for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in India as well as working on a variety of UK heritage assets, including the National Gallery and Harvey’s Foundry within the West Devon and Cornwall Mining World Heritage Site.
